EUFY Robovac 11 Review

The self-cleaning home has remained an elusive dream for frugal people all over the world, for many years. However, lately, thanks to the introduction of robot vacuum cleaners, everyone can afford a smart robot vacuum to help with chores. You can now come home to a freshly cleaned carpet or hardwood floor, and the best part is you don’t need to spend an arm and a leg to enjoy this latest technology.

The Eufy Robovac 11 is one of those models. Although it lacks the features and performance of competitors like iRobots’ Roomba 960, you also don’t have to spend the $500 – $700 on it that you would pay for the likes of Roomba, Neato, and Dyson. Priced at approximately $220, the Eufy Robovac 11 is one of the most economical smart vacuum cleaners around.

The Design

Thanks to its simple yet sleek design, the Eufy Robovac 11 by Anker does not look like a budget vacuum cleaner. The slim and smart appearance is credited to the tempered glass of the deck which basically covers plastic finished and brushed aluminum. The only interruption to the sleek design is the power button and the brand logo. Compared to other brands such as Samsung, Neato, and Roomba, that have a more industrial look, the Eufy Robovac 11 looks more like a smart vacuum than other competitors.

The simple appearance also means that it doesn’t come packed full of features. However, since it is only 3.1 inches high and 13 inches in diameter, it fits easily under most furniture like your couches and bed, which most people fail to clean, due to lack of effort and other smart vacuums like the Dyson 360 Eye fail to clean due to height restrictions.

This compact design is also a great choice for smaller apartments and more confined spaces. The circular shape may present a problem when it comes to cleaning up those corners so don’t get rid of your upright corded vacuum just yet. However, be sure to watch out for loose cabling and cords as your Eufy Robovac 11 may get tangled in it.

There are 11 infrared sensors on the bottom front of the vacuum including a drop sensor. You will also find a swivel wheel, two side brushes and a central rolling brush that’s handy for collecting hair or rug thread. However, you will have to remove the build-up manually.

Since it cleans in a random pattern, the Eufy Robovac 11 is prone to bumping into furniture, obstacles and anything else in its line of sight, which is why it comes, fitted with a bumper at the front. The bumper prevents damage to the vacuum and more importantly – your furniture.

It has two small side brushes that aid it in sweeping up the mess while it suctions along. The Eufy Robovac 11 also comes with spare side brushes, just in case you need them and an extra foam filter and HEPA style filter.

There is a power button at the back of the Eufy Robovac 11; however, you won’t use this much as its only purpose is to turn off the vacuum. Ultimately, the smart vacuum will return to its charging station to recharge once the battery is low.

The Eufy Robovac 11 makes use of a newer Li-Ion battery that allows it to run for approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes after a full charge as compared to other brands such as the Roomba 650 which uses a Ni-Cad battery and runs for an hour at most. The Roomba 650 also takes longer to reach full charge compared to the 4 hours that the Eufy Robovac needs.

Although the Eufy Robovac 11 is lacking in the smart App category, it does come with a remote control that controls all functions, so you barely have to touch the vacuum itself. The remote is equipped with a large LCD and allows you to choose cleaning modes and create cleaning schedules. The remote will need 2 AAA batteries which are sold separately.

Maintenance

The good thing with most robot vacuums, as is the case with the Eufy Robovac 11 is that it uses its own box that stores waste. This eliminates the need to spend money on costly bags.

Emptying the vacuum is as easy as pressing the button, sliding out the receptacle and pushing a release button, all of which should be done inside your dustbin to avoid inhaling the dust.

Easily remove hair and carpet thread by pulling on the yellow hooks at the bottom of the Eufy Robovac 11. While some people may consider this an inconvenience, it’s a far cry from putting in elbow grease.

The Performance

Although the Eufy Robovac 11 features an excellent design for a budget-friendly robot vacuum, its’ sole purpose is to clean – and clean thoroughly. Another aspect of how well a smart vacuum cleans your home depends on whether your house is suitable for a robot vacuum cleaner, in the first place. So that said, you will probably get limited use out of the Eufy Robovac 11 if you live across more than one floor. While it easily transitions over small bumps and room dividers, it will not climb stairs.

The Eufy Robovac 11 works best when left to run on a long cleaning session, as once the battery runs out it will take about 4 hours to recharge. The good news is that once fully charged this robot vacuum will clean for approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes, which is much longer than other robot vacuum brands and models like the Ecovacs Deebot M82 and iLife V3s.

Cleaning Settings

The Eufy Robovac 11 contains five cleaning modes made up of auto cleaning, maximum cleaning, single room cleaning, spot cleaning, and edge cleaning. All these modes are controlled using the remote control which allows you to create cleaning schedules as well.

Auto Cleaning Mode

This mode will have the robot cleaner exploring your home on a random route. It will just wonder about and clean as it goes along. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the Eufy Robovac 11 does not have the capability or technology for mapping out the room.

Spot Cleaning

If you have a concentrated spill or mess, this function will come in handy. The robot vacuum will stay in a contained area until the mess is cleaned up.

Edge Cleaning

This mode will have the Eufy Robovac 11 sticking to the edges of the room. Although, this mode is not as accurate as it should be and other modes work just as well at cleaning up the mess on the edges of the room.

Single Room Cleaning

As the name suggests, this mode encourages the robot vacuum to clean just a single room. However, the challenge lies in the fact that the Eufy Robovac 11 does not adhere to virtual walls or boundaries, meaning that in order for it to clean a specific room only, you will either need to close the door to that room or place a physical boundary in its path.

Max Cleaning

Max cleaning is perhaps the best cleaning mode since it makes use of the highest suction rate that the vacuum contains. The only downside is that the battery drains quicker than when on the other modes.

Hardwood Floors

The robot cleaner is fully capable of picking up messes on bare floor. So your average spills such as Cheerios and raw rice won’t be a problem. However, due to the infrared sensors, it is recommended that you not use it on dark colored flooring as it may not perform at its’ full capacity.

Carpets

If you’re looking for a deep cleaning robot vacuum for your carpets, then this is probably not your best bet. The Eufy Robovac 11 will pick up surface dirt on low and medium pile carpets, however, don’t expect a deep clean from it since it lacks the suction to fulfill this function. On the plus side, the Eufy Robovac 11 will clean your carpets throughout the room including under your furniture, couches, and bed, which is where most upright vacuums fail to reach.

Our Final Verdict

The Eufy Robovac 11 has a sleek and straightforward design which doesn’t take up much room in the home.

Cleaning capabilities are not fantastic; however, this robot vacuum will definitely clean up surface dirt and make life easier for frugal homemakers looking to do fewer chores.

It is worth every penny considering the fact that the price is the best highlight of this robot vacuum.

The fact that is doesn’t have a smart app, or mapping functionality is disappointing, but it can be left unsupervised for the most part.

So if you want an affordable robot vacuum cleaner that will get the job done, invest in the Eufy Robovac 11.
